Though brief, a change is immediate in the narrator's tone...she finished her fear a long time ago, and put the final nail in the coffin quite spectacularly.

NocturneThe young lady, standing on the balcony of a tall skyscraper, sighed as she looked over the city. Every single car was like a rapidly moving star and every single window seemed to conceal a thousand faraway suns. The woman was wearing a beautiful, white dress. Some would say it suited her, but she knew better. Never had she felt more like she was wearing a lie. A disgusting, sickening untruth, born of the sable rivers of Hell. She turned away from the beautiful, astral view and sighed once again. The people around her passed by without as much as noticing that she was there, at all.
Marina Voclain, a 29 year old woman who had recently finished law school. Initially, she had been lucky enough to be moderately successful, but as of late, her luck had been waning. She had been invited to the high-end soirée she was currently attending, but it was clear that nobody there knew who she was.
