Harsh GeometryLay the blame squarely
triangularly if you like or just act accordingly
subversively, and cautiously bordering,
insanity-
internal claustrophobia, inundating and provoking
evoking heavy history
rest assured that no mystery
lies in what you are doing.
Keep at bay the protesters
Orchestrate a fake ensemble
Tumble with a ragged crowd in your gilded trousers
Rouse the poor, and drag through the ghost enemy
then sit back enthroned.
Alone in your realm of dust
With a wounded, crimson Atlas at your feet
near a fleet of assailed ships
let more blame fall
from you lips
squarely,
like an endless icy blanket
black without windows.

A tense, commanding tone compliments equally thrilling imagery.

fourteenyou're fourteen and you don't let anyone read your poems.
you write for your family
the kids who threw your backpack in the toilet
that one person
you think about
spending your life with
(and yeah, you're young, but
if this is real enough
to keep you awake

doctor.
and you keep the cover

shut

there's a cloud in my head
pushing against the edges
filling the space between thoughts
with less than nothing
i'm a radio wave
and you're a radio wave
we pass through each other
without touching

So very relatable, at any age, but especially for anyone in their adolescent years, and those who remember what it was like.

"A Strange Lover" by Azzaneth
A romance that isn't really a romance, but a new way of thinking.

AwakenessDavid liked driving forklifts. He was the best forklift driver Constructech had. He never missed a pallet, and things always got where they needed to go in one piece. Working on the new SuperEnergy plant had been a particular treat for him. So many important and delicate pieces of equipment needed to be brought in, and David took care of them all. Not one load was dropped, misplaced, or forgotten.
It was this fact, above all else, that had allowed David to keep his job after the new Awakeness tests came out. IQ was a thing of the past. Awakeness tested for a person’s awareness of themselves, and their surroundings. Construction companies now wouldn’t take anyone with an Awakeness lower than 85 points. Workplace accidents had dropped significantly.
As David lined up another pallet for pickup, George the foreman sauntered over to him. Ever since receiving his score of 107, George sauntered everywhere.
“Watching the plant activation tonight?” George asked, leaning
Awakeness by C-A-Harland
A poignant sci-fi with great characterization and a startling conclusion.
